HP CP or R?

My students often ask me:

What watercolor paper is the best Hot Press or Cold Press?

My answer…

Rough!

What’s the difference between HP, CP and Rough watercolor paper?

The right answer is – Cold Press watercolor paper!

Often teachers suggest CP because it is in a middle. With Cold Press watercolor paper you’re never disappointed, it’s regular, convenient and most popular because of this. But I don’t want to be right, I want to be happy! Excited about my happy answer?

Take two: HP and rough. Even worse. Try extra smooth HP — extra rough! Or extra rough — extra smooth HP.

Enjoy your own discoveries!
